Uncle Ben

On Sunday after Daddy left we went over to Mammies house to play with uncle Ben. Well at least he will be their uncle very soon. Ben had this silly Bear hat that Gracelyn just loved. We put it on her head and she kept it on forever. Gracelyn was being a bit of a stinker and was trying to pinch Bens nose. Gracelyn has also started pointing as you can see in the picture. Any and everything she wants she just points to. It is so cute!! :)Both the girls just love Ben and I think it is because he he is just as goofy and silly as they are most the time.

Sound to Narrows

Today was our annual Sound to Narrows Race. Every year since Mara has been born our family has participated in this awesome event. In years past I have ran the 5k with Mara in the jogger and then she would do the diaper dash but for the last 2 years she has been running the junior 2k shuffle on her own. Last year daddy ran it with her because I was prego but this year it was my turn. Daddy strapped Gracelyn into the backpack and fired up the camera while Mara and I tied our laces and made our way to the start line.

The buzzer sounded and we were off. This year was a little tougher because Mara had a little side ache but she pushed thru it and we ran hard to cross the finish line. What a rewarding feeling it is!! Crossing the finish line makes every race so worth it!!! it is the reason why I keep racing after all of these years.

SO your probaly wondering about Gracelyn??? Miss Gracelyn was all set up with her number to crawl in the diaper dash. Unfortunatley the weather was horrible and after waiting and waiting and being soaked she had had enough and we had to head home. We saved her number and Mara planned to race her this afternoon after warming up a cozy ba ba and after a nice long nap.

Once again it was a successful event and we look forward to it again next year.

Preschool Graduation

Well the time has come where my baby girl is finally graduating preschool and moving on to Kindergarten. I think it is going to be harder on me then it is on her!! Thursday was the last day of school and they had a small ceremony for the kids. Each child was given a pre kindergarten graduation diploma as well as an album full of pictures from the school year. Mrs. Halvorson had something special to say to each child. Mara was told that she was a very special girl because she has such an imagination, she loves to learn new things and most of all she was kind. I think I had a couple tears in my eyes.

It seems that in forming your children to be these perfectly behaved beings we sometimes forget the good that we have already taught them. This was a good clear reminder to me that I am blessed with a great girl!!

I guess it is time for school supplies and backbacks. AGHHH!!!

Fun in a box

Gracelyn found this dog food box at Mammies house and thought it was the greatest toy ever. We observed it for a bit and then decided we wanted a ride in it. Oh what fun you can have in something so simple!!

I scream you scream gracie screams for ice cream

Gracelyn got her first taste of Ice cream the other night at the park. We ate dinner at Steamers and then went to the park to play and have ice cream. Gracelyn thought it was just wonderful. Huckleberry!! yummy!!!

Mara was busy with her rocket and her bubbles. although for a minute there she had a 5 year old melt down because she really wanted her hula hoop out of the car. It all worked out!

Dancing Queen

This weekend was our friends Josh and Jocelyn wedding. We did lots of work this week to make it a very special occasion for them. The wedding was flawless and the reception was a blast. Gracelyn and Mara both had lots of fun I guess it was just different types of fun.

Gracelyn was very interested in eating, and drinking water out of a big girls cup where as Mara was really more interested in what she does best which is of course DANCING!! At one point in the night Mara was having a dance off with one of the older boys at the party. My kid has got some moves and for sure the attitude to go with it!! :)

It was a long fun evening but Gracie couldn't hang too long. Daddy got her to relax and put the thumb in where as Mara went on and on until the party was shut down.

Mara took a break to color with her Daddy and of course for the Big Moment. Mara wrote and sang a song for Josh and Jocelyn. Her wishes were that everyone cleared the dance floor so they could dance while she sang. It was ADORABLE!! Although there was a lot of giggling going on during the song. I think she was a bit embarassed.!!

All in all it was a great time and even Daddy and I snuck in a dance. Isn't he so cute!!
