Last night I was gone and Justin got the girls ready for bed. Gracelyn had piggies yesterday and this is what the hair-do looked like after they were taken out. Apparently she was posing for daddy with her many facial expressions!!
The other night we had the Nino kids over for a sleepover. The girls decided it would be fun to have a red carpet party and that is exactly what we did. I rolled it out and they got gussied up for a fancy dance party. Lycra was the fabric of choice for the event and all of them were sporting it. I am not sure if you remember these dresses from a really old post but my mom made them for the girls before Gracelyn was even walking. Amazingly enough it still fit. Well at least without the diaper!! I must say that I laughed a lot and all the stars received honorable awards!! What a cute tush...
And here is a sample of what the show looked like. Sorry.. I forgot to turn it before I uploaded it. You will get the idea...
Forgot to mention that Justin pinned on captain last Tuesday. It is a very big deal for us and it shows how far we have come in such a short time. It was just 4 years ago that I flew to Alabama to pin on his 2nd Lieutenant Butter Bars after Officer training school. I am so proud of you Justy!!
Tonight while I was at the store Daddy was out mowing the lawn and found a little pet for the girls to play with. Not something I would run right over and let them hold but I guess that is the difference between mommys and daddys. Gracelyn loved it instantly and practically wanted to squeeze the life out of it. Mara was timid at first but soon realized it was harmless and soon began to really like. it. I think they both cried when we let it go but that is one pet we were not keeping!!
Today I raced the danskin triathlon. This is a race I try to do every year but did not do the last two years because I was prego with Gracie. The race consists of a 1/2 mile swim in Lake Washington, 12.5 mile bike ride across I-90 and a 3.1 mile run along the lake to finish it up. I had a great race and beat all my past times. I felt great and also accomplished. This race is all women and I am telling you that once you cross that finish line you feel empowered!! The danskin tri supports breast cancer which is just awesome. The beginning of the race starts with the cancer survivors. How cool is that???
If anyone wants to "Tri" it next year I would love to have you join me on that finish line!!
Last Tuesday I loaded up the camping gear and the girls into the mini and off we went for a week of camping. Every year my family meets down at Westport for the annual family camping trip. This year we decided to stay at a new campground called Grayland. It was just beautiful!! This year Auntie Teenie, Jared and Tabby went. Dave, Tracey and Joey, my brother and Ed. Then Mammie and Auntie Evie headed down mid week.
Although the skies were blue the wind was so strong that we didn't get much time on the beach. Much of our time was spent bike riding, playing games and sitting around the campfire. The nights were a little rough but we made it through. I don't think this was the year for Gracelyn to camp. Let's just say that the back of the mini isn't all that comfy!!!
One afternoon we went into town and rode the go carts. Both the girls thought it was such a blast!! Many memories were made this trip but I do have to say that when the week was over I was more then ready to ome home. Glad there is a year until we do this again!!
Lately Gracelyn has been a stinker. I think it is the whole turning "two" thing. Since we do not have stairs in our house we have to go to the corner and put our nose in it. Practically every time she licks the wall. Usually I end up laughing because she thinks it is funny and it has completely defeated the purpose to begin with. Hey.. At least I try!! This picture was too funny!
Today we headed up to Seattle for the 1:40 Mariners game. This was Gracelyns first game and we thought it would be fun to bring both the girls and cheer on our team. The game was good even though we lost. The girls cheered, danced and ate peanuts. Gracelyn was totally fascinated with the shells and didn't quite grasp the concept of the empty ones on the floor. It seemed that they needed to go back in the bag with the fresh ones. It was comical and oh so fun! After the game we headed over to the science center to see what was going on. Mara found these animal statues that she insisted I get a pic of her with. What goofy faces. After walking around we decided to let the girls play in the fountain. Gracelyn kept on going over to it when it would shut off and it got her every time. It was hysterical and Justin and I did a lot of laughing! I can't think of a better way to spend such a beautiful day. My hubby and my two adorable girls!!!
