Ever have days like this??

This morning was one of those mornings that all I wanted to do was pull my hair out!

I have a 9 year old who has attitude and talks back whenever necessary. I understand this is independence mixed with a lot of hormones but GEEZ.. Sometimes I just sound like a broken record. Mara can you do this.. mara can you do that .. then 30 minutes later still none of it is complete. AHHHHHHHHH

Or how bout the 4 year old who has to try on 15 outfits before she can decide on the right one to wear to school. Of course none of it matches and don't let me forget the headband obsession. The headbands that are never actually worn on her hair but across her forehead.

I give up.. I've decided that the best thing I can do is just let them be and hopefully they will come around. It's a good thing I love them so much. I read my girlfriend Katy's blog this morning and it turned me around. I need to just let it all go and then I will see the differene. Thank you Katy for those wonderful bits of inspiration. They really do matter!!!

So hears a shout out to all those moms who have had mornings like mine. If we stick together we can do it!

I also said this sweet little prayer to help me. I find it very healing

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.

New Do's for Back to School

The girls got their new hair cuts for back to school. Mara got layers and it makes her look way older then she really is and Gracelyn got a bob. It is perfectly pixie cute.

Newest Family Member

Meet the newest member of our family...

Lucille the chicken

How we got her is a long story but we love her and she produces blue eggs. Well when she decides to lay an egg it will be blue, fresh and delicious!!

I spent this week learning about chickens habitat, food and lifestyle. We got her ac high class coop and she is adjusting great!

Some people say if you build it, they will come.. I say they come first and then we build it.

I may not be on that farm but it gets me one step closer to it. Baby steps right???

Happy Birthday Mara.. Your 9

My little beauty turned 9 on September 5th. Mara and I started the day of with pedicures then later in the weekend she had Lily over for a trip to the Rainforest cafe, shopping, a family party and a sleepover. It was a fun filled weekend and as always she was spoiled rotten. I am so lucky to have such a beautiful, smart, funny, witty daughter. I learn so much from her and she always reminds me to laugh and smile. I love you Mara and love the little girl you are turning out to be.

Happy 96th Birthday Auntie

September 2 was Aunti's 96th Birthday so the girls and I took a trip to the cemetary. It was a bitter sweet moment for me. Bitter in that selfishly I was so sad and could not hold back the tears but sweet knowing that she got to live for 95 years. I was lucky enough to be a part of those years. The girls painted tiles and we picked flowers for the grave. The girls said a little prayer and we sang her favorite song "When your smiling".

We love you auntie and we miss you so so much!

Festival of Trees 2010

Festival of Trees is fast approaching yet again. I feel like we just wrapped up last year but nope it is here again. Jen and I are doing Gala this year and we are in the thick of it. This years theme is Give the Gift of Hope.

A few weeks ago we got to take some time to go to the tasting. There were many menu choices and by the end of the 2 hrs we were stuffed to the brim but had made some wonderful choices. Here are some pictures of what we got to sample. The final menu is a surprise but I can tell you it will certainly be delicious!!!

Four wheeling

Mallory and Gracelyn were crusing around on Mallorys new quad. They were all giggles and smiles. These two are the best of buds and just love thier time together. This was one of our last sunny days before school started and we lost our beautiful warm sun.
